Many thanks - I am back. Do I still need to do thesame for the directory below?

/etc/apache2/mods-available/php7.2.conf

and commented out: SetHandler application/x-httpd-php

Okay, you'd want to ensure that there aren't any lines containing "SetHandler application/x-httpd-php".

If there are, just comment those out.

I see the above in the following files:
/etc/apache2/conf-available/php7.0-cgi.conf
/etc/apache2/conf-available/php7.2-cgi.conf

After commenting that line SetHandler line in the above two files, restart Apache with this command :

service apache2 restart

Once that's complete, does PHP work as expected for you?

Hmm, I'm not sure I understand -- what problem is it that you're currently experiencing exactly?

I'm not sure what you mean by it's redirecting to a file upload?

However, what's the output of this command:

find /etc/apache2 | xargs grep -i sethandler

I found a way.

and commented out: SetHandler application/x-httpd-php
